A stripped-back, low-budget visual accompaniment to a track, often a looping image, simple animation, or moving artwork. Not a full music video.
Visualisers are a modern label staple. They give a song a YouTube presence before the main video is ready, and they are often used for album tracks that will not get a full production.
Visualiser in the real world
Spotify Canvas, launched in 2019, turned the visualiserA stripped-back, low-budget visual accompaniment to a track,… into a standard part of streaming. Artists now routinely commission 3 to 8 second looping visuals for every track, not just singles, because Canvas clips increase streams and profile visits. What was once an afterthought became a deliverable in its own right.
